Wind Turbines

Install a renewable micro generation green energy system with awe and benefit from the feed in tariff while you reduce carbon emissionsWhy install a wind turbine?

A wind turbine is a medium term investment which will more than pay for itself over its lifetime.  The length of time to recoup the initial investment depends on a number of factors such as wind speed, location and local landscape.

Wind power is a clean renewable source of energy which produces no carbon dioxide emissions or waste products.  A 2.5 kw system can save 1-2 tonnes of CO2.  A 6KW system can save 2.5-5 tonnes CO2 (source: Energy Savings Trust)

At a good site, wind turbines represent a relatively low-cost method of micro-renewable electricity generation thus reducing carbon emissions.  They can bring increased security of electricity supply to non-grid connected locations and give some protection against electricity price rises.

In April 2010 the DEFRA introduced the new FITS Scheme (Feed in tariff scheme).  Enabling turbine owners to claim per unit for electricity generated using the wind method.  This scheme is available to help the government meet its targets for cutting carbon emissions. The current and proposed FIT rates are listed below.

Tariff band (kW capacity) Current tariffs (no change to current policy) Proposed tariffs from October 2012
≤1.5 35.8 21.0
>1.5 to ≤15 28 21.0
