GRANT FUNDING EXPLAINED

Low Carbon Buildings Programme

The DTI's Low Carbon Buildings Programme provides grants for microgeneration technologies for householders, community organisations, schools, the public sector and businesses.  Phase 1 of the programme is managed by the Energy Saving Trust and Phase 2 of the programme is managed by BRE.

Launched on 1 April 2006, the programme will run over three years and replaces DTI's Clear Skies and Solar PV programmes, which closed for applications on the 31 March 2006. The programme is UK-wide (apart from the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man) and will demonstrate how energy efficiency and microgeneration will work hand in hand to create low carbon buildings.

There will be two streams of grants available:

  • Stream 1 - these grants apply to smaller projects for home owners. 

    HOUSEHOLDS: to apply online you need to have your Planning Application granted.  Once this has happened you will be given an Planning Permission Reference.  You can apply on line for your grant through the low carbon buildings organisation.  The maximum grant you can get is £2,500.  To read more about the grant CLICK HERE.  To apply for a grant online now click APPLY ONLINE NOW

  • Stream 2 - This stream is opened to public section and private sector alike. It is segemented into two streams depending on the size of the project and are fundamentally differentiated by the timescale and the cost. 
  • Stream 2A - to be allocated over five funding rounds (subject to availability of funds). Maximum grant of £100k or 40-50% of total costs (excl. VAT). There will be quarterly deadlines for stream 2A applications. Apply now by completing a pre-registration form.   
  • Stream 2B - to be allocated over three funding rounds (and one reserve round) Maximum grant of £1m or 40-50% of total costs (excl. VAT). Deadlines for applications will be quarterlythese grants apply to medium and large scale microgeneration projects and are available to public, not for profit and commercial organisations.
  • Other  -       Public sector and charitable organisations can apply for a low carbon buildings programme grant through either Phase 1 or Phase 2.  Please contact us at AWE energy as you could get a grant of up 30% of your costs.
